Our draught lager Estrella Damm is imported from Barcelona and wines are selected from Spain and South America. The Margaritas served at Coriander offer a true taste of Mexico and have always been a hit alongside a list of other exotic cocktails. We also offer various soft including non-alcoholic cocktails.
Coriander is one of Bournemouth’s longest running independently owned restaurants. It was originally opened by Christine and Roger Mills as an American style restaurant, but after eating Mexican food whilst abroad and craving the taste when they returned, Mexican dishes were gradually added to the menu. Mexican restaurants were non-existent in Bournemouth in 1980, and pretty much all of the UK.
Current owner Wendy Nelmes has worked at Coriander since the early days and now runs the restaurant along with Manager Tori and supervisor Tom, and some great staff. Mexican food has increased in popularity over the past 30 years and is widely available in the UK now. Coriander has strived over the years to adapt and remain interesting to its customers, and this can only be reflected by the number of years it has continued to be a great place to eat out in Bournemouth and a favourite place for locals and visitors to enjoy.
Tori and Tom became intrigued by Mexican culture after working at Coriander for several years. They spent a month travelling Mexico sampling the sights, sounds and tastes of this amazing country. This trip inspired a year travelling South and Central America where a further three months were spent in Mexico. They returned with the aim of installing their experiences into the restaurant.
Coriander aims to be the best Mexican style eating out experience in the country.
